LGBTQI Sangha Meditation VIRTUALLY

Virtually, 37 Bartlett Street, San Francisco, California 94110, USA

Come and unload the weight of anxiety and stress in your life with the practice of mindfulness and loving kindness. Experience the joy of meditating with LGBTQI community and learning about the Buddha’s teachings on awakening.

Per common sense and also the decision of our host, the SF Buddhist Center, the SF LGBT Buddhist Sangha will be postponed until further notice to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. We have created an online meeting so that we can still participate in community during these times.

We invite you to our weekly meditation sitting group at the SF Buddhist Center, 37 Bartlett Street in San Francisco. Our group meets from 5:30 to 6:30pm each Monday, except holidays. This sangha was founded by Larry Yang and Ryumon in July 2002, and today the dharma talks are carried on by our core teachers Lisa Hoffman and Steven Tierney and many fabulous guest teachers. We explore mindfulness, meditation, and spiritual practice in our day to day lives and focus on cultivating an open awareness spacious enough to include whatever arises moment to moment. It is a wonderful way to bring closure to your activities of the day.

Meditation 30 min
Topic discussion, dharma talk, or guest speaker 20–25 min
Short sitting 3–5 min

There is no cost to participate, and the group sustains itself through voluntary work and donations which in the Buddhist tradition is called the practice of "dana" (generosity). Your dana contributions go to pay for our weekly room rent and as offerings to our teachers who graciously offer the teachings without charge. It is a drop-in group, so please join us in supporting and deepening our collective mindfulness practice.

For more information, please email or visit the yahoo group at To subscribe to our announcements list, send an email to This sangha is peer led and organized. We always welcome new people to be contributing members of the community.

If you are new to meditation, you are welcomed to approach one of us for guidance and instructions to begin a meditation practice.
