Educating & Inspiring The Greater Community To Live Authentically Through Music & Laughter
Celebrating all sexual orientations and gender identities, LGCSF provides an open and artistic environment for singers committed to musical excellence. Our performances entertain, educate, and inspire audiences with the spirit of inclusion and harmony.
The Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco is always looking for talented, dedicated performers to become part of our wonderfully quirky family. If you are looking for a diverse community with whom you can share your creativity and vocal ability, LGCSF might be right for you.
If you are interested in singing with us, we invite you to visit one of our regular rehearsals to see firsthand what we do and to get a feel for the group. Rehearsals are held Thursday nights from 7-10pm in San Francisco’s Polk Gulch neighborhood.
To arrange a visit, email our Operations Manager at email@example.com. One of our members or staff will contact you to schedule the best date for your visit; location and other pertinent info will be passed on at that time.
No solo audition will be expected during your visit. You’ll have the chance to meet some chorus members and get a taste of our repertoire. A Chorus member will meet with you during the break to answer questions and share some info about the group, including the expectations and responsibilities of being part of the Chorus. If you feel like LGCSF might be the place for you, an audition will be arranged with our artistic director.
When do we rehearse?
Rehearsals are held most Thursdays from 7-10 pm. Members are expected to attend all rehearsals whenever possible. Several additional rehearsals are usually scheduled each concert period including sectionals, retreats, and dress rehearsals.
Do I need to bring anything to my first visit?
A willing attitude, a sense of fun, and your voice! A pencil is also recommended.
Does it cost anything to join?
We are a member supported organization. To keep the Chorus running, members pay $30 a month plus a yearly music fee of $20. If you have difficulty meeting these costs, scholarships and work trade arrangements are available.
How much of my time will Chorus membership require?
We are a member run organization. In addition to attending rehearsals and performances, members are expected to participate in one of the committees that make LGCSF happen. Committee work generally amounts to a few hours per month, but could be more depending on your level of interest and commitment.
But what if I don’t identify as lesbian or gay?
No problem! All are welcome to be part of our community.
